The course is delivered as six individual modules each providing online distance learning content with additional tutorials from Larsens Maritime Training – Larsens Maritime Training is a department of Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants Ltd.
In addition, recorded videos are provided, and questions can be asked directly and confidentially by email communication to the author / tutor of each module.
The course is delivered in the English Language.
Course Benefits
This is an on-demand distance learning course which can be studied around your life and work commitments and upon successful completion you will receive a Certificate of Study which holds third party CPD Accreditation.
Each module requires the participant to complete and pass a multiple-choice exam prior to moving to the next module. This allows the participant to assess their understanding of the material and their progress through the course.
All course material is authored and presented by marine professionals who are full time employees of Larsens Marine Surveyors and Consultants Ltd. and who have many decades of experience in the maritime industry including marine engineering, sailing at sea, ship design, construction, and commissioning plus extensive experience as ship surveyors, auditors and maritime industry trainers.
This course is based upon practical knowledge and the module assessments are based on this, rather than on academic ability.
Real life training, real life scenarios, and real-life knowledge presented by experienced trainers form the basis of this course.
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is suitable for anyone considering a career at sea, or in a shoreside role associated to ships and the maritime industries.
The course is also suitable for people who are already involved in the industry and require a fuller understanding of ships perhaps to aid with audits, surveys, operations or reducing operational downtime. This may include the most junior early career staff through to experienced ship and office staff.
Ships ratings, officers, superintendent, owners and managers could all benefit from this training.
Entry requirements.
An understanding of ships would be an advantage in this course, but no previous experience or knowledge is necessary.
A good level of the spoken and written English language is essential.

An estimate of 3 to 5 hours of study time is required for each module.
